Chill Mode Activated:  Recipe for Iced Tea

Chill Mode Activated:  Recipe for Iced Tea

Oh! So I heard we were outside ALL summer long with fresh iced tea!!

“I know that’s right!” (in my Cardi B voice)

With a calendar full of ball games, playdates, movies on the lawn, mini concerts, birthday parties, vacations, excursions, etc. that means a lot of outdoor fun time with family, friends, and kids. But we know that equals a lot of planning, thinking, and crunching numbers to make it all happen. Speaking of which, did you know that 64% of mothers indicate that they get less than 1 hours to themselves without work or family? A lot of what we do as mothers also comes in the form of behind the scenes tasks.

With all the fun and joy summer brings, it’s equally important to intentionally carve out moments to breathe and be. That might take shape as enjoying bursts (small increments of time) alone, engaging in conversations that involve reminding ourselves to be in the present moment (not the one that just happened or the one that might), and speaking up for the things we desire most.  And while we are being super intentional, let’s serve some amazingly delicious tea mocktails/cocktails in the process. Enjoying something you love while carting the kids (and everyone else) around only makes the hardest, most rewarding job just a little sweeter.

Adding a splash of fresh (or frozen) fruit to your summer tea routine is the perfect way to add just a dab of extra sweetness.  Like, who doesn’t love a good mixed drink?! The included recipe for iced tea uses blueberries to elevate the tea experience. Sipping a delicious tea beverage only makes it more exciting.

So, allow me to introduce...

Blueberry Basil Lemonade

Now, a little about the blueberry. According to www.healthline.com, blueberries are a superfood known for its “disease fighting properties”. It is also great for skin health and aids in healthy digestion (they are a prebiotic). Blueberries are also full of antioxidants, aid in healthy cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar levels, and it is full of fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K, manganese and potassium. Blueberries are tiny but full of all types of goodness we need to thrive.

So, what better way to kick off the summer chill mode series than with fresh blueberries? This recipe for iced tea starts by making a blueberry infused water, followed by steeping tea in the blueberry water, then sweetening it to you liking. Lastly, the tea is mixed with a splash of lemonade and/or other fresh (or frozen, your choice) fruits to create a beautiful and mouth-watering iced tea beverage.

This quick video provides the step by step directions and the directions are below.
